Under the project “Enhancing Food Safety and Competitiveness of Seafood Products,” the Mid-Term Review Meeting was convened back-to-back with the Regional Training Workshop on High Pressure Processing (HPP) Technology from 20 to 22 June 2022 in Singapore. With support from the Japanese Trust Fund, the Meeting and Training Workshop were organized by the SEAFDEC Marine Fisheries Research Department (MFRD) Programmes with the assistance of the Singapore Food Agency. The events were attended by representatives from Member Countries including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam as well as SEAFDEC Deputy Secretary-General, staff from the SEAFDEC Secretariat and MFRD, and resource person from the School of Chemical and Life Sciences, Nanyang Polytechnic.
During the Meeting, the Member Countries delivered reports on their respective regulations and standards related to ready-to-eat raw fish and fishery products, as well as the results of the pilot trials on GMP and GHP for these products conducted during 2022–2023. Furthermore, the Meeting also reviewed the Regional Guidelines on Good Manufacturing and Handling Practices (GMP & GHP) for Ready-to-Eat Raw Fish and Fishery Products developed by MFRD. For the Training Workshop, the participants learned the applications of the HPP technology to fish and fishery products at Nanyang Polytechnic and observed the HPP technology demonstration at Commonwealth Logistics II Pte. Ltd.
