SEAFDEC took part in the 11th Meeting of the ASEAN Fisheries Consultative Forum (AFCF) which was hosted by the Directorate of Fisheries of Viet Nam on 25-26 June 2019 in Da Nang, Viet Nam. The Meeting was attended by country delegates of the ten ASEAN Member States (AMSs) and representatives from regional organizations namely NACA and SEAFDEC. The Meeting came up with the updated progress on initiatives and activities undertaken by the AMSs, namely: fishing capacity and zoning system, securing sustainable small-scale fisheries, resource rehabilitation and enhancements, impacts of climate change on fisheries, combating IUU fishing, and traceability of fisheries and aquaculture products. SEAFDEC informed the Meeting about the regional initiatives related to SEAFDEC activities specifically on fishing capacity, combating IUU fishing, resource rehabilitation and enhancements, securing sustainable small-scale fisheries, especially on gender aspects.
