Hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Thailand, the Second ASEAN Meeting on Combating IUU Fishing in Partnership with the EU was convened on 13-14 December 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. The aims of the Meeting were to adopt the Terms of Reference on ASEAN Network to Combat IUU Fishing (AN-IUU) and Rules and Procedures of AN-IUU as well as discuss the steps toward the establishment of the AN-IUU. The Meeting was attended by the representatives from the ASEAN Member States and other organizations who are responsible for combating IUU Fishing. The representatives from SEAFDEC, namely: Ms. Malinee Smithrithee, Secretary-General of SEAFDEC; Mr. Akito Sato, Deputy Secretary-General of SEAFDEC; and Dr. Worawit Wanchana, Policy and Program Coordinator of the Secretariat attended the Meeting. SEAFDEC presented the three regional initiatives related to IUU fishing including the ASEAN Guidelines to Prevent the Entry of Fish and Fishery Products from IUU Fishing into the Supply Chain, Regional Fishing Vessel Record, and ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme.
